Waterbury gunshot victim drives himself to police department for help

Police are investigating after a man was shot in Waterbury over the weekend and drove himself to the police department seeking help.

Just before 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, a 37-year-old man arrived at the Waterbury Police Department and told investigators he was shot inside his vehicle near the intersection of East Farms Street and North Main Street, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette.

The man was taken to a hospital for an injury that was not believed to be life-threatening, Bessette said. No further information was immediately released.

The shooting remains under investigation.
