A beloved pet cat missing for nearly two weeks has been safely reunited with its owner in West Hollywood.
Six-year-old Floki was apparently taken by a food delivery driver Sept. 27 in an incident captured on surveillance video.
Footage shows the food delivery driver engage with Floki, place the cat in the trunk of a Prius and drive away.
Floki’s owner, Emir Uckardes, says he went through emotional turmoil while Floki was missing.
Uckardes was desperate to get the cat back home, and a $1,000 reward was offered for his return.
Fortunately, Uckardes told Eyewitness News that the driver returned the cat to the police station Friday morning after our story aired the night before.
Uckardes assumes the delivery driver made the return after seeing the news coverage and information about the reward.
Uckardes says he wishes the driver the best, adding that he hopes he understands he shouldn’t have picked up the cat.
“I have no hard feelings,” Uckardes said. “I’m sure Floki doesn’t have hard feelings.”
What happened may have been accidental. Floki’s owner confirmed the cat does not wear a collar.
Eyewitness News also reached out to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station to ask if the delivery driver thought Floki was a stray and if a crime was committed.
No details are being given. The Sheriff’s Department only said it is under investigation.
