what does Blue Moon ice cream taste like? Where to find it in Erie

Must read

It’s the most mysterious ice cream flavor out there. Some people even debate just what Blue Moon ice cream is or tastes like.

The uniquely flavored ice cream is most known for its distinct color.

Multiple online sources believe that the Blue Moon flavor was created in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with theory pointing to Petran Products and Bill Sidon as the creators.

Perry’s Ice Cream, served at many Erie ice cream shops, describes the flavor as “a cosmic blue colored mystery flavor with hints of fruit, spice and vanilla.”

The Taste of Home culinary website describes the flavor similar to the Kellogg’s cereal Froot Loops, with additional hints of citrus, amaretto, lemon, cotton candy, marshmallow and bubble gum.

“The old definition used to be that it was creamy citrus flavored,” Rob Warner, owner of the Ice Cream Shoppe, said. “You don’t think citrus until you’ve been told that.”
