However, the U.S. Department of Energy recommends households choose a temperature that’s comfortable for their families while minimizing the indoor-outdoor difference to save on electricity, the report stated.

Window attachments, coverings and treatments
Magnetic insulating panels or blackout curtains designed to obstruct heat
Shades or screens that still let light through while limiting it
Small home updates that include sealing any gaps or cracks around windows and replacing old or worn weatherstripping.
