After a couple of sunny days, more rounds of storms are expected at the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, southern Oklahoma is at risk for afternoon and evening severe weather Thursday, May 22. On Friday, May 23, northern, central and much of eastern Oklahoma could see severe storms.
Here’s what you need to know.
When will it storm in Oklahoma?
Starting in the afternoon on Thursday, southern Oklahoma could see severe storms pop up. Hazards include quarter-size hail and wind speeds up to 70 miles per hour. The tornado potential with these storms is very low.
Starting late Friday into early Saturday, there is a potential for severe storms in northern, central and much of northeastern Oklahoma. Hazards include large hail and strong winds.
When will it rain in Oklahoma?
Besides the chance for severe storms, there is also a chance of rain this weekend, according to the weather service.
Morning scattered showers are possible Thursday, mostly along and east of Interstate 35.
In addition, chances of rain will persist across much of the state on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
