Portion of Licking Road to be closed
ZANESVILLE − Licking Road will be closed between Dillon Falls and Rehl roads from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8, for railroad crossing repairs, according to the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office.
Creative youth camp to focus on art
ZANESVILLE − A creativity camp for those in second to sixth grades will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 to 10 and July 14 to 17 at the Bethel Community Center, 126 Ontario St. Participants will learn about art and artists through water colors, acrylic paints and chalk to build a puppet theater, assortment of puppets and painted canvases. First Friday Art Walk
ZANESVILLE − Due to the July 4 holiday, the First Friday Art Walk will take place July 11. The event celebrates local artists and includes a self-guided walking tour of the downtown area. Whitehouse Family Christmas holding Christmas in July event
CROOKSVILLE − The Whitehouse Family Christmas Lights project is holding its first ever Christmas in July from noon to 5 p.m. July 12 at 1867 Township Road 197 SE, Crooksville. Donations will be accepted to purchase Christmas presents for children in Perry, Muskingum and Athens counties. The event will feature a Jeep show, food, raffles, games, rubber duck race. Pottery Festival is upcoming in Roseville
NEW LEXINGTON − The Crooksville-Roseville Pottery Festival will be held July 10 to 13 at Roseville Park, 10 Maple St., Roseville. Events will include pottery exhibits, vendors, food trucks, rides, music, beer garden, queen’s pageant, baby beautiful contest, pizza eating contest, 5K walk and run, pie contest and fireworks. Space Days set for July 14 and 15
NEW CONCORD – Space Days will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14 at the John and Annie Glenn Museum, 72 W. Main St., New Concord, for those ages 9 and 10 and July 15 for ages 11 and 12. The theme is electricity with students learning about static electricity and simple electric circuits through experiments and activities. Cost is $20 and includes pizza lunch from Wally’s Pizza. Genesis re-credited for radiation oncology
ZANESVILLE − The oncology department of Genesis Cancer Services has received a three-year accreditation in radiation oncology from the American College of Radiology. It’s the third consecutive time the unit has received the accreditation.
Genesis earned the accreditation by meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by the ACR. Patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs were assessed during the review. Radiation oncology is used in the treatment of cancer.
Downey earns scholarship
NELSONVILLE − Dannika Downey of Roseville received the Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in Nelsonville. The recent graduate of Maysville High School plans to attend Muskingum University.
Good Deeds offering teacher grants
ZANESVILLE − Good Deeds Service Club is offering $100 grants to kindergarten to 12th grade teachers in Muskingum County for school supplies. Applications for the Teacher Wishlist Project are due by July 25. Awards will be available Aug. 6. Priority will be given to first time applicants. Drabik earns scholarship
ZANESVILLE − Olivia Drabik received the $1,000 Russ Bolin Memorial Scholarship from the Zanesville Kiwanis Club. The 2025 graduate of West Muskingum High School plans to study education at Muskingum University. She’s the daughter of George and Angie Drabik.
Somerset gets street safety funding
COLUMBUS − The Ohio Highway Safety Improvement Program recently announced grant funding for safety improvements. This includes a little more than $1.5 million to the Village of Somerset to be awarded in 2028 to install several curb bumps or extensions to narrow streets in the intersections near the village square.

● Zanesville City Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting regarding personnel at 4:30 p.m. July 7 at the administration building, 356 Moxahala Ave.
● Zanesville Patriots will meet at 6 p.m. July 9 at the Boy Scouts, 734 Moorehead Ave. Ohio Secretary of State candidate Marcell Strbich will talk about concerns regarding the state’s election process.
