Labor Day weekend throughout the First State is a time to kick back and enjoy – if the weather cooperates.
Here’s what to know about Labor Day weekend and the holiday weekend forecast.

Labor Day is Sept. 1.
Is Labor Day the end of summer?
Sort of. With schools starting after Labor Day, it’s traditionally known as the last weekend of summer. And since Labor Day is on Sept. 1, meteorologically speaking, it is the first day of fall. However, the traditional first day of fall is Sept. 22.
What’s the Labor Day weekend forecast in Delaware?
Delaware will get an early taste of fall this weekend with cooler than normal temperatures with evening temperatures perfect for sitting around the firepit.
New Castle County: The holiday weekend forecast is calling for mostly clear skies with highs in the mid- to upper 70s. Overnight lows will be in the mid-50s. Monday is the warmest day with highs hitting 79 degrees.
Kent County: The weekend forecast is calling for clear skies with highs in the mid 70s all three days. Overnight lows will be in the mid-50s. The warmest day will be Monday with highs hitting 78 degrees.
Sussex County: The weekend forecast will be consistent with clear skies and highs hitting 77 all three days. Lows will drop to 55.
What the Labor Day forecast for the Delaware beaches?
No matter which beach you flock to this weekend, the weather should be perfect.
Rehoboth Beach: Temperatures will be a little cooler than the rest of Delaware with highs only reaching 74 degrees all three days. However, the evening will be a little warmer as lows only drop to 64 degrees.
Bethany Beach: Sunny skies with highs in the low 70s are forecasted for the holiday weekend. Nighttime lows will drop into the mid-60s.
Lewes: Sunny skies will be the rule for the weekend as highs reach 76 degrees. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.

If you’re planning to go in the water at the beaches, here are the water temps:
Bethany Beach: 74.8 degrees
Rehoboth Beach: 75 degrees
Can I wear white after Labor Day?
Traditionally, white is the color of summer, so that it can be worn from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The color rule was also used to differentiate those who did manual work from those who did office work.
That said, the white after Labor Day rule is considered passé.
White can be worn any time of the year, so feel free to wear white to Thanksgiving dinner or a New Year’s Eve celebration.
