‘Good Trouble Lives On’ protests
In Tennessee, 24 “No Kings” protests took place on June 14, and almost a dozen protests under the “Good Trouble Lives On” name occurred on Thursday, July 17.
Organizers called the July 17 “Good Trouble” protests a response to “the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations” from the Trump administration. Using the term “good trouble lives on” from John Lewis promotes the idea of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent actions to create change and challenge injustice.
The coalition of organizations behind the “Good Trouble Lives On” protests was also behind the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations on June 14, which, according to the group’s estimates, drew millions of participants. Overall, there have been monthly nationwide protests against the administration and its policies since April, and the “Good Trouble” protests mark the fourth major day of action since Trump took office in January.
