Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday in front of thousands of students and onlookers.
Kirk, 31, was speaking outside to 3,000 attendees in the university’s courtyard on Wednesday afternoon when the incident occurred. Graphic videos on social media show thousands scrambling from the event, leading the school to evacuate the campus and close down as authorities investigated.
The Illinois native and close political ally of President Donald Trump cofounded the nonprofit Turning Point USA in 2012, when he was 18, which has hosted multiple events in Florida since then. Here are some of Kirk’s last in-person appearances in Florida in 2025.

One of Charlie Kirk’s last appearances in Florida was at the Student Action Summit in July, a three-day event for students and young adults. It took place at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa.
“This conference brings you the best and brightest speakers in the country, hundreds of sponsoring organizations with similar values, and an ENERGY you can feel,” the Turning Point USA website stated. “SAS was created to activate and mobilize the generation that will boldly defend America’s freedom. Join us for the Student Action Summit.”
Along with Kirk, some of the speakers included Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, reality stars Savannah and Todd Chrisley, commentator Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr.

Earlier this year, Kirk kicked off another round of his popular “American Comeback” tour. Created by Turning Point USA, the tour involved him going to various colleges and universities for his “prove me wrong” debates.

Has Charlie Kirk’s shooter been arrested? What to know day after
As of the morning of Sept. 11, no. According to USA TODAY, authorities are searching for the suspected shooter after two people had been detained in the hours after the shooting, including one who was interrogated by law enforcement.
Both were subsequently released.
“There are no current ties to the shooting with either of these individuals,” the Utah Department of Public Safety and the FBI said in a statement. “There is an ongoing investigation and manhunt for the shooter.”
