Where construction starts July 7

Must read

New construction projects are set to pop up on Monday, July 7, as Michiganders return to work following the holiday weekend.

“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a news release.

“By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime,” she added.

The Michigan Department of Transportation removed lane restrictions for 110 of 179 projects (61%) statewide from Thursday, July 3, and until 6 a.m. Monday, July 7. Now, workers are set to get back to work on projects statewide.

AAA estimated more than 2.6 million Michigan residents would travel 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day holiday weekend, up 3% from 2024, a new record, MDOT said.
