White River near Bedford expected to keep rising through Wednesday

Areas along both forks of the White River flooded Saturday and Sunday after days of heavy downpours saturated south-central Indiana.

The National Water Prediction Service (NWPS) monitor shows the East Fork White River near Bedford Boat Club is expected to continue to rise through Wednesday afternoon. The river is predicted to crest at just over 33 feet. The NWPS website reports major flood stage is 32 feet.

The river is expected to return to normal water levels next week.

The NWPS reports the worst flood on record was in March 1913, when the East Fork White River reached 47.5 feet. The record indicates during that flood, water would have reached the ceiling of the Bedford Boat Club.
