Will it rain on The Weeknd at MetLife Stadium? Here’s the forecast for the big concert

Must read

North Jersey residents are likely to get rained on this weekend. But will it rain on The Weeknd?

As the Canadian music superstar prepares for the third of his three-night residency at Metlife Stadium, many of his New Jersey fans — and other weekend warriors — woke up to gloomy clouds and spotty rain on Saturday morning.

But a line of thundershowers passing through midafternoon in North Jersey is expected to give way to clear skies and seasonal temperatures in the high 60s to low 70s by the time the big show begins tonight.

The rain moving through North Jersey “should be out by 3 or 4 p.m.,” said Eric Hoeflich, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. “I wouldn’t call it a perfectly nice night in North Jersey, but we’re not expecting rain. Partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-60s or so.”

Mostly cloudy skies will return to North Jersey by Sunday morning, with rain returning in the late afternoon into the evening.

Shore forecast

The forecast down the Shore is less optimistic.

“The rain will be a little slower to move out [on Saturday],” Hoeflich said. “Probably about 5 or 6 p.m. or so, showers will hang around. But it will clear out and then, pretty much the same thing on Sunday, after 2 or 3 p.m., just some scattered showers around. Mostly cloudy.

Temperatures near the Shore on Saturday will top out in the low-to-mid 70s, he said, low to mid-60s tonight and upper 60s to low 70s on Sunday

Winds will be light throughout the state all weekend, Hoeflich said.
