Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday, July 19, across Michigan, then the skies clear for pleasant conditions on Sunday, July 20.
“Warm days, cool nights will be the theme over the next couple days through the weekend,” the National Weather Service in Gaylord said on X. “Dry today (July 18) and Sunday, but chances for showers and some storms on the increase on Saturday. Swim risk will remain low through the weekend.”
On July 19, rain and thunderstorms are forecast for all regions of Michigan, with severe weather hitting mid-to-lower areas.
In the Upper Peninsula, the rain may begin Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday.
“Lingering showers taper off Saturday afternoon, with dry weather to follow for the remainder of the weekend,” the NWS in Marquette said on X.
The main threats are wind gusts up to 60 mph, large hail, lightning, localized flooding from heavy rain and an isolated tornado.

Storms are predicted to exit Michigan, leaving sunny and partly cloudy skies on Sunday, July 20. Possible rain is in the forecast overnight on July 20 in St. Joseph.
Temperatures in the Lower Peninsula will range in the 80s, with northern areas seeing cooler temperatures in the 70s.
In the Upper Peninsula, the highs range in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
