Winona woman killed after being struck by two vehicles Thursday morning

Jul. 24—LAMOILLE, Minn. — A Winona woman was killed after being struck by two vehicles early Thursday morning in Winona County near LaMoille, about 9 miles southeast of the city of Winona.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Minnesota State Patrol, Lois Irene Davis, 72, of Winona, had crashed into a ditch around 4:30 a.m. Thursday along U.S. Highway 61, near Winona County Road 7. Davis then exited the vehicle and walked across Highway 61 when she was struck by a vehicle in the left southbound lane. The vehicle stopped, the woman was then struck again by another vehicle, the report said.

Davis died at the scene.

A 44-year-old male driver of a 2001 Chevy S10 pickup truck was not injured in the crash.

Road conditions were wet at the time.

The incident shut down part of Highway 61 on Thursday morning. The road was later reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, the Winona Police Department and Pickwick Fire Department also responded to the incident.
