INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — For the ninth consecutive year, WM (formally Waste Management) has partnered with the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC) to donate 250 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to local campers.
The donation aims to equip students with the tools they need to start the new school year.
“At WM, we’re committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve,” said Debbie Perez, senior account executive. “Partnering with GYAC each year allows us to support local students with the school supplies they need for a strong start. It’s a tradition we look forward to every July.”
The backpacks were distributed to children attending the GYAC Summer Camp, a program that strikes a healthy balance between academic enrichment and recreational activities. The camp is designed to help students stay engaged, prepare for the upcoming school year, and still enjoy the fun and freedom of summer break.
