Jul. 20—A 28-year-old woman is accused of attacking a Kalispell Police officer as he was taking her to Logan Health Medical Center for an evaluation earlier this month.
Prosecutors charged Zoey Katrina Wilson with one count of felony assault on a peace officer in Flathead County District Court following the July 3 incident. She was expected to appear before Judge Danni Coffman on July 18 for her arraignment.
An officer found Wilson about 1:13 a.m. while responding to a disturbance near U.S. 93 South. She appeared drunk and distraught, and the officer decided she needed an evaluation at the medical center, court documents said.
She was handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle. But she slipped off the cuffs on the way and began hitting the interior of the officer’s vehicle, court documents said.
When the officer pulled over and attempted to get Wilson back into the cuffs, she allegedly struck him several times in the head with the handcuffs.
The officer later received five stitches for a cut to his head, court documents said.
If convicted, Wilson faces between two and 10 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
