Woman in ‘critical’ condition after crash in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE − A 60-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition Aug. 28 after being struck by a vehicle the day before, a Port St. Lucie Police spokesperson said.

Police about 8:11 p.m. Aug. 27 went to Southwest Gatlin Boulevard just west of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard for the crash, said Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, police spokesperson.

He said a preliminary investigation determined the woman was crossing Southwest Gatlin Boulevard from south to north, but wasn’t using the nearby marked crosswalk.

Mesiti said the woman was struck by a vehicle driven by a woman turning west onto Southwest Gatlin Boulevard from northbound Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

The crash occurred near the intersection.

The injured woman was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with serious injuries and is in unstable and critical condition, Mesiti said.
