CONNEAUT — The Truck World off of Interstate 90 and Route 7 will soon have an additional draw, in the form of a Dunkin.
It will add another business to an interchange that already includes several fast food locations and two gas stations.
Conneaut City Manager Nick Sanford said he has not heard an exact completion date for Dunkin.
“They hoped to be completed sometime in the summer,” he said.
Sanford said Dunkin first approached the city around 2022 or 2023, for a joint venue with Taco Bell.
“That was shelved,” he said.
Taco Bell later decided to set up its own location on Gateway Avenue, which opened in December 2024.
Sanford said Dunkin approached the city again in May of last year, soon after he started as city manager, regarding the location at Truck World.
Representatives from Truck World could not be reached for comment.
The city welcomes all new developments, including Dunkin, Sanford said.
He said the city is not aware of more businesses interested in setting up at the interchange at this time.
“Just sit back and enjoy the show, I expect there’s a lot more to come in the coming years,” he said.
If the city hears about more business coming to the interchange, city leaders would promote it, Sanford said.
Sanford said without question, the new Dunkin will bring more traffic at the I-90/Route 7 interchange.
Because of increasing traffic, the city has petitioned the Ohio Department of Transportation to add signalization to the interchange.
“Dialogue is still ongoing,” Sanford said.
ODOT is still analyzing data related to the interchange, Sanford said.
“We’ve definitely witnessed a steady increase of traffic at that interchange,” he said.
The city’s objective is to see traffic signals placed at both the eastbound and westbound ramps, Sanford said.
While the city can legally set up traffic signals at the interchange, some funding from the state would make that possible, he said.
