Must read

A Toyota RAV 4 driving the wrong way on Highway 3 near Gorst just before midnight Friday struck two cars and caused a third to crash, reportedly triggered by a Belfair man suspected of DUI.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the Toyota, driven by a 35-year-old man, was driving south in the northbound lanes around 11:30 p.m. He initially hit a Toyota Avalon driven by a 23-year-old man, and continued south. He next struck a Chrysler 300 head-on, with a Bremerton couple inside. The RAV 4 and the Chrysler, both totaled, stopped after colliding and blocked the highway just north of the exit to West Belfair Valley Road. The passenger in the Chrysler was taken by ambulance to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale for injuries.

A fourth vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old woman, ran into debris left on the highway from the crashes, and was forced to pull over on the shoulder. All drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to WSP.

The Belfair man is suspected of DUI and driving without a license or insurance, according to a statement from WSP.
