Dashawn White, 22, of Rochester, NH, is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly driving under the influence and leading police on a high-speed pursuit through several towns.

According to York police, the pursuit began when officers attempted to stop a silver Chevy Impala on Cider Hill Road for suspected impaired driving. The driver, later identified as White, failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens.

The chase spanned several communities, including York, South Berwick, and Eliot in Maine, and Rollinsford, Dover, and Somersworth in New Hampshire. Police said the pursuit crossed state lines twice.

Police said several law enforcement agencies attempted to deploy tire deflation mats to stop White’s vehicle, including Somersworth police, who were able to deflate one of White’s tires near the intersection of Clement Road and Green Street.

The chase ended at Stackpole Road and High Street, where officers executed a precision immobilization technique to bring the vehicle to a halt.

When White’s vehicle came to a stop, police said he fled on foot.

Police said White fled on foot, but York Sgt. Jon Rogers deployed his K9 partner, Gunther, who helped apprehend him.

White was transported to Wentworth Douglass Hospital for evaluation and ultimately transferred to the custody of the New Hampshire State Police.

Two other passengers in White’s vehicle were released without charges.

In Maine, White is being charged with felony eluding and three counts of reckless conduct. He also may face misdemeanor charges, including criminal speed, operating without a license, and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

New Hampshire police have charged White with being a habitual offender and three counts of reckless conduct. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of aggravated DUI, driving after revocation, resisting arrest, disobeying an officer and two counts of false imprisonment.
