The fun doesn’t stop for 11 days straight. You still have lots of time to make your voice heard by voting for the best food at the Iowa State Fair of 2025 or trying the more than 200 food vendors. Here are the other can’t-miss activities happening on the first Sunday of the fair.

What’s the forecast for Sunday at the Iowa State Fair?

There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, Aug. 10. New rainfall could amount to a quarter or a half inch, according to the National Weather Service. The high is forecasted to be 85 degrees with winds up to 8 mph. Thunderstorms are likely in the evening and could be heavy with new rain amounting to as much as an inch.

  • Spin & knit: 10 a.m. at the Sheep Barn.

  • Gingerbread house contest: 11:30 a.m. at the Elwell Center.

  • Monster arm wrestling: 1 p.m. at John & Emily Putney Family Cattle Barn.

  • Championship fiddlers: 3 p.m. at Pioneer Hall.

  • PIEOWA documentary screening: 7 p.m. at the Maytag Center.

Mr. Worldwide is making a stop at the Iowa State Fair Sunday, Aug. 10. Country duo Neon Union opens the show at 8 p.m. Recently, fans of Pitbull have attended his shows dressed as the international superstar in bald caps. Will they show up to the fair?
