A fire in an outdoor hallway forced guests at a west Phoenix Motel 6 to evacuate, but no one was injured.
Phoenix Fire Department crews arrived at the motel near 52nd Avenue and Interstate 10 at about 4:30 a.m. on April 13 and saw a large amount of smoke coming from the second floor of the three-story building. Firefighters cut into the wall to gain access to the fire and used hoses to extinguish it and prevent it from spreading, the department confirmed.
All guests were able to evacuate safely, and some guests were relocated to different rooms. The Phoenix Fire Department was working to determine the cause of the fire.
A motel employee said no rooms were damaged in the fire, and by about 11:15 a.m., business was back to operating as normal.
