How many counties are named Summit?

Summit County is the name of three counties in the United States, two of which got the name because of elevation in their topography.

Half of Summit County, Utah, is mountainous with much of the High Uintas Wilderness Area located within its borders.

Summit County, Colorado, is located among the high peaks of the Colorado Rockies, immediately west of the Continental Divide. Though it’s not confirmed whether it was named for being at such a high elevation, the lowest of which is still over 7,500 feet above sea level.

All three counties have skiing opportunities for residents and tourists to take advantage of.
